Who are we?

Habitat for Humanity Susquehanna is part of a global, nonprofit housing organization operated on Christian principles that seeks to put God’s love into action by building homes, communities and hope. Habitat for Humanity Susquehanna is dedicated to eliminating substandard housing locally and worldwide through constructing, rehabilitating and preserving homes; by advocating for fair and just housing policies; and by providing training and access to resources to help families improve their shelter conditions.

Our mission:

As a reflection of God’s love Habitat for Humanity Susquehanna creates affordable housing opportunities throughout Harford and Cecil Counties by building, renovating, and repairing homes in partnership with the community.

Volunteer Opportunities:

Construction Volunteer:

Habitat for Humanity Susquehanna needs group and individual volunteers to participate in home builds! Schools, church and civic groups, businesses, and other nonprofits are welcome to participate.

We partner with the community and low-income families to build safer and more affordable homes for families. We currently build in Harford and Cecil counties, most builds take place in Aberdeen, Edgewood, Havre de Grace, and Bel Air. Volunteers will help build homes for families and will gain new skills such as construction work, teamwork, time management, and commitment to a project. Volunteers cam come out when we build, which is every Wednesday through Saturday from 7:30am -3pm. Contact Brianne Young for site locations.

No construction experience is necessary, just a willingness to learn! Habitat Susquehanna provides an experienced construction leader on each house site who will provide on-the-job training. Volunteers will help with framing, siding, painting, landscaping, drywall, installation, and more.

Volunteers must be at least 16 to build on site. Under 16 can help with landscaping and painting at the end of the build; please contact Brianne Young for more information. Volunteers must also have valid health insurance and go through our online registration and safety training.
